APOLLO
bringing new meaning to popping bottles
Working collaboratively on this project with Samuel Yu, Marne Dingwall, and Ciara Cahill, Apollo was created to take the stress out of popping a champagne cork. After conducting an experience study into corkscrew use and wine consumption rituals, it was concluded that many wine corking processes do not add to the wine drinking ritual. Apollo was the answer to an unseen problem, heightening the experience value when opening a new bottle of sparkling wine.
Pressing both wings in sets the shuttle for liftoff. Pins at the end of the wings lift the cork far enough from the bottle to allow the contained pressure to continue to dislodge the cork. Anticipation builds as the pressure does, before Apollo launches into the air and the party begins!
