Shroom Tomb

a mycelium retail fitout concept for Craft Contemporary 2023

Shroom Tomb was developed by Cera-Stribley as part of Material Matters, an exhibition for Craft Contemporary 2023, curated by Ella Saddington. Images courtesy of Pier Carthew.

Approached by Cera-Stribley to assist in this project, Shroom Tomb was an ambitious project exploring the role that mycelium can play in retail fitouts. After introducing them to the material and its properties, the team let their imaginations run wild as they developed this all-encompassing exhibition space.

The final piece had mycelium on full display, creating a gabion wall system filled with spent mushroom fruiting blocks from Unearthed, three large mycelium panels produced by Flynn Williams, and Ephemera: Cone pendant by Richard Greenacre, Mechelle Shooter, and Josh Riesel.
