IM-PERMANENT

a showcase of Australian mycelium practitioners for Melbourne Design Week 2023

IM-PERMANENT was developed as part of NGV Melbourne Design Week 2023. The project is a finalist in the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards for 2023.

A survey of mycelium practitioners Australia-wide, IM-PERMANENT spotlighted 27 works situated across design, engineering, art, and science; each exploring a future where mycelium-based artefacts are the norm. A collaborative endeavour between the incredible humans at Ellis Jones and RMIT Industrial Design, IM-PERMANENT was hosted at The Store gallery in Abbotsford Convent as part of NGV Melbourne Design Week 2023.

The exhibition welcomed over 1200 guests through the doors across 10 days, engaging them in product, film, and conversation across 5 different events. IM-PERMANENT was recognised throughout design media and featured in NGV curator Simone LeAmon’s top 10 from MDW 2023.
